Alvor Boardwalks
Located in Portimão, these boardwalks are an invitation to observe the natural beauty of the dunes and the Alvor Estuary.
The 6 km route (12 km round trip) starts at Praia dos Três Irmãos and ends at the Alvor Estuary, making them the longest boardwalks in the Algarve.
The biodiversity found in the Alvor Estuary and the Arade Estuary, along with the golden sandy beaches and clear waters, make this trail a rich landscape experience.
“7 Vales Suspensos” Trail
This 6 km trail (12 km round trip) in Lagoa follows the coastal cliffs between Praia da Marinha and Praia Vale de Centeanes.
The trail’s name comes from the seven hanging valleys that hikers cross, historically believed to be associated with the mouth of a water line that once flowed directly into the sea.
Monchique Mountain Waterfalls Walking Route
This circular trail, one of the most popular mountain trails in the Algarve, starts and ends at Foia, the highest point in the Algarve at 900 meters.
The 16.6 km trail passes by several waterfalls, forests, and unique flora of the Monchique mountain range.
Notable waterfalls include Barbelote, Chilrão, and Penedo do Buraco. On clear days, you can see as far as Cape St. Vincent and Faro.
Ponta da Piedade Trail and Boardwalks
Located in Lagos, this trail is especially appealing to sculpture enthusiasts.
The path is filled with stunning caves and rock formations sculpted by the wind and sea over thousands of years, some reaching 20 meters in height.
The 4 km trail (8 km round trip) also includes natural pools and a sea with turquoise and emerald hues, resembling a living painting created by nature.
Barril Beach Trail
This short 1.5 km trail (3 km round trip) in Tavira surprises you with its diversity of fauna and flora. Starting at Pedras d’El Rei, the trail crosses the Tavira Channel via a pedestrian bridge leading to Barril Beach.
This beach, with its natural dune “tongue” separating the sea from the Ria Formosa, ends at the iconic Anchor Cemetery, where the anchors of the former tuna fishing fleet are displayed.
